Global Market Cues

Global markets displayed a mixed performance overnight and in early Asian trade. In the United States, major indices ended Monday's session with modest gains. The US500 rose by 0.19%, with the S&P 500, Nasdaq Composite, and Dow Jones Industrial Average all closing slightly higher, largely shrugging off renewed concerns about trade tariffs. However, US futures were seen trading marginally down or mixed in early Tuesday hours.

European markets showed divergence on July 14, 2025. The Euro Area's main stock market index (EU50) declined by 0.53%. While the FTSE 100 registered gains, the DAX and CAC 40 indices experienced declines.

In Asian markets this morning, the trend was largely mixed. Japan's Nikkei 225 remained mostly flat, while the Topix index saw a slight uptick. South Korea's Kospi index declined, though the Kosdaq edged up. Investors across Asia are keenly awaiting the release of China's Q2 GDP data.

GIFT Nifty and Domestic Cues

The GIFT Nifty is currently trading around the 25,171 to 25,178 mark, indicating a flat to marginally positive or muted start for the Indian benchmark Nifty 50 on Tuesday. As of 6:40 a.m. IST, GIFT Nifty was up 15 points at 25,167. This suggests that despite a four-day losing streak for Indian indices, the market may attempt to stabilize.

On the domestic front, Indian benchmark equity indices extended their losses for a fourth consecutive session on Monday. The Nifty 50 closed 0.27% lower at 25,082.3, and the BSE Sensex declined 0.3% to 82,253.46. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) have continued to be net sellers in July, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) have provided support as net buyers, cushioning potential downside.
