BSNL Unveils ₹1 'Freedom Plan' to Accelerate 4G Adoption and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' Vision

New Delhi, India – In a strategic move to democratise access to its burgeoning 4G network and bolster the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-Reliant India) initiative, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has introduced a highly attractive 'Freedom Plan' priced at a symbolic ₹1. This special Independence Day offer, available from August 1 to August 31, 2025, across India, aims to draw new subscribers and allow them to experience BSNL's indigenously developed 4G technology.

The ₹1 'Freedom Plan' provides new users with a comprehensive package for 30 days, including:

  • 2GB of high-speed 4G data per day
  • Unlimited voice calls to any network (local and STD)
  • 100 SMS messages per day
  • A completely free 4G SIM card

After exhausting the daily 2GB data limit, connectivity will continue at a reduced speed of 40kbps, as per BSNL's fair usage policy.

A Strategic Push for 4G and Digital Inclusion

This promotional offer is exclusively for new BSNL subscribers, clearly indicating the company's intent to expand its customer base in a highly competitive telecom market. Customers interested in availing the 'Freedom Plan' can visit their nearest BSNL Customer Service Centre or authorized retailer.

The launch of the 'Freedom Plan' coincides with BSNL's significant progress in its nationwide 4G network rollout, which is being deployed using 'Make-in-India' technology. BSNL Chairman and Managing Director, Shri A. Robert J. Ravi, emphasised that this initiative places India among a select group of nations that have built their own telecom stack under the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' mission. BSNL is in the process of rolling out 100,000 4G sites across the country, with thousands already active in various circles. This move is seen as a major milestone towards empowering digital India with secure, high-quality, and affordable mobile connectivity.

Competing in a Dynamic Market

While private telecom operators like Jio, Airtel, and Vi offer similar prepaid plan benefits at higher price points and increasingly include 5G services, BSNL's ₹1 offer serves as a potent tool to attract users to its newly deployed 4G network. The aggressive pricing strategy is expected to help BSNL regain market share and compete effectively against its private counterparts. This initiative also aligns with the Union telecom minister's recent directive for BSNL to significantly grow its mobile service business.

The 'Freedom Plan' not only celebrates India's Independence Day but also provides a unique opportunity for citizens to experience the advancements in indigenous telecom technology, reinforcing the nation's commitment to self-reliance in critical sectors.
