How to use β Overview
- Use the period pills (top-right) to switch between calendar/fiscal years β all charts reload automatically.
- Hover any chart element for exact registration counts.
- KPI cards show totals for the selected period.
- EV Penetration (below) ranks states by EV share %, not raw volume β useful for policy targeting.
Fuel Type Distribution
Share of registrations by fuel β YTD 2026
Live Data
Petrol/Ethanol and Petrol together typically exceed 80% β a rising EV slice signals fuel transition. Hover slices to see exact registration counts.
Top Makers by Volume
Highest-registering manufacturers
Longer bar = higher registration volume. Use this to benchmark a manufacturer's market presence or track share shifts over time.
Vehicle Class Breakdown
Top registered vehicle categories
Motor Cars (LMV) and two-wheelers dominate. A rising EV share in specific vehicle classes (e.g. e-Scooters) indicates electrification momentum in that segment.
Norms Compliance
Emissions standards distribution
A dominant BS6 slice means the fleet is mostly modern and compliant. Large BS4 or below shares indicate older vehicles still on road β relevant for pollution policy.
EV Penetration by State
Electric vehicles as % of total registrations per state — states sorted by EV share (highest first)
Insight
EV% corrects for state size β small states like Goa or Chandigarh may rank higher than UP even though UP has more EVs in absolute numbers. Use this for targeting EV policy or charging infrastructure investments.
Maker Market Share — Top 20
Market share % on Y-axis · bubble size = total volume — reveals concentration vs long-tail distribution
Insight
Large bubbles clustered top-left = oligopoly (1-2 makers dominate). Many small bubbles spread across the bottom = fragmented, competitive market. Hover a bubble to see the maker name, market share %, and exact volume.
How to use β Report Explorer
- Select a report from the left sidebar (e.g. "Maker vs Fuel") to load charts.
- The Donut shows proportional share of top 20 rows; the bar chart shows absolute volume.
- The stacked bar below shows how each row breaks down across sub-categories.
- Market Share view normalises each row to 100% β useful for comparing composition regardless of size.
- Category Dominance (colour-coded) shows how reliant each row is on its single top category.
Select a Report
Use the dropdown in the top bar to choose a report combination to explore.
How to use β Heatmap
- Each cell represents the intersection of a vehicle class (row) and fuel type (column).
- Darker/more intense colour = higher registration count at that intersection.
- Hover a cell to see the exact count in a tooltip.
- Scan rows to see which vehicle classes have diverse fuel usage; scan columns to see which fuels are universally popular.

Use the dropdown in the top bar to choose a report.
How to use β Fuel & EV Insights
- Fuel Bar (top): compares registration volume by fuel type for the selected period.
- State-wise chart ranks top states by total volume β switch periods to compare years.
- EV vs Conventional donut shows the split between all-electric types and traditional fuels.
- EV Adoption Leaders (bottom) ranks all 34 states by EV share % β a better signal than raw volume for adoption readiness.
Monthly Registration Trend β Fuel Types
Jan vs Feb 2026 comparison by fuel category
Compare bar heights across fuel types to identify which fuels are growing versus declining. A rising EV bar alongside a falling Petrol bar would indicate measurable fuel transition in the period.
State-wise Registration
Top states by registration volume
High-registration states (UP, Maharashtra, Gujarat) drive national totals β policy changes there have outsized impact. Use this alongside EV Adoption Leaders to separate volume leaders from transition leaders.
EV vs Conventional
Electric vs ICE vehicle trend
Includes PURE EV, Electric(BOV), Strong Hybrid, and Plug-in Hybrid as “EV.” A growing green segment means the transition is accelerating at the national level.
EV Adoption Leaders — All 34 States
States ranked by % of total registrations that are Electric — green intensity = higher EV adoption
EV Insight
Ranks all 34 states by EV share %. Brighter green = higher adoption. States at the top are EV-ready markets β prioritize these for charging network expansion, EV incentives, or fleet transition programs.

How to use β Analytics
- Navigate views from the left sidebar (Top Sellers, YoY Growth, MoM Trend, EV Penetration, State Rankings).
- Top Sellers: Check/uncheck fuel or category legend items to filter segments. Click "Sort by Selected" to reorder makers by the ticked items only.
- YoY Growth: Use the Group by pills (Fuel, Category, Maker, State) to switch the dimension. Partial years are automatically excluded.
- MoM Trend: Shows top-8 entities over time β use the Group by pills to switch dimension.
- Use the period pills (top-right) β every chart in Analytics reloads for the selected period.
