Ather Energy Posts Maiden Quarterly Net Profit of Rs 1.26 Crore in Q2, Shares Surge Up to 15%
Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ather Energy marked a historic milestone by posting its first-ever quarterly net profit for the second quarter ended September 30, 2026 (Q2 FY27). The company delivered a consolidated net profit of ₹1.26 crore, swinging into the green from a consolidated net loss of ₹154.07 crore reported during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. In the preceding June quarter (Q1 FY27), the company had logged a net loss of ₹51.09 crore.
The turnaround sparked aggressive buying on Dalal Street, with shares of Ather Energy surging over 10% to 15% intraday. The counter crossed ₹1,518 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) compared to its previous close of ₹1,380, and touched an intraday high of ₹1,643.85 on the BSE.
Key Financial Highlights of Q2 FY27
- Revenue from Operations: Grew 62.9% year-on-year to ₹1,464.24 crore, up from ₹898.88 crore recorded in Q2 FY26.
- Total Income: Rose to ₹1,526.95 crore from ₹940.67 crore in the year-ago quarter, supported by other income of ₹62.7 crore.
- Operating Profitability (EBITDA): Turned positive at ₹11.3 crore compared to an EBITDA loss of ₹133 crore in Q2 FY26, yielding an EBITDA margin of 0.77%.
- First-Half Performance (H1 FY27): Ather's consolidated net loss narrowed substantially to ₹49.83 crore from ₹332.30 crore in H1 FY26, while revenue from operations increased to ₹2,681.16 crore from ₹1,543.46 crore.
Operational Drivers and Product Mix
The inflection to profitability was driven primarily by sustained delivery volumes of its mass-market family scooter, the Ather Rizta, along with calibrated product pricing and expanding non-vehicle revenue streams. Increasing economies of scale and better capacity utilisation have helped the electric vehicle (EV) maker absorb overhead costs and counter input price fluctuations across its supply chain.
₹122 Crore Capacity Expansion Approved
Alongside the financial results, Ather Energy's board of directors approved a capital expenditure plan of approximately ₹122 crore, inclusive of taxes.
The expansion is earmarked to augment annual production capacity by 2.25 lakh units across two key manufacturing hubs:
- The operational plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.
- The upcoming Factory 3.0 facility situated in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra.
This production ramp-up is intended to satisfy growing domestic demand across Tier-1 and Tier-2 Indian cities as two-wheeler electrification continues to gain traction nationwide.
