India Vehicle Sales by Year, Financial Year and Quarter

The monthly reports answer "how did August go". These answer the longer question — how a financial year, a calendar year, a quarter or a half is actually running. Every segment, with month-by-month volumes, the manufacturer leaderboard, the segment and fuel mix, and the same window in every earlier year on record. Built from Vahan retail registration data and refreshed daily.

How to read these

India's financial year runs 1 April to 31 March, so FY 2026-27 means April 2026 through March 2027 and its quarters are Q1 April–June, Q2 July–September, Q3 October–December and Q4 January–March. That is the calendar every listed automaker reports on; the calendar-year pages are here because that is the window most readers mean by "in 2025".

A period that is still running reports only its completed months, and compares them against the same calendar months of the year before — five months against five, never five against twelve. Each page says how many of its months are counted, and links to the individual monthly report behind every row.

How these are made. Each report is assembled from the Vahan 4 registration database we read daily (vahan.parivahan.gov.in). Every figure is a retail registration — a vehicle counts when a buyer registers it at an RTO — not the wholesale dispatch figures manufacturers announce. Manufacturer volumes are a company's total across every vehicle type it sells, which is the finest manufacturer split our Vahan data holds with a month axis. Information only, not investment advice.
