What changed recently — and what these calculators use
🧾 Income tax FY 2026-27
Budget 2026 changed nothing — the slabs from Budget 2025's revamp continue under the new Income-tax Act, 2025. New regime: 0–4L nil, 4–8L 5%, 8–12L 10%, 12–16L 15%, 16–20L 20%, 20–24L 25%, above 24L 30%. The ₹60,000 Section 87A rebate makes income up to ₹12 lakh tax-free (₹12.75 lakh for salaried with the ₹75,000 standard deduction), with marginal relief just above.
🏛️ Small savings (July–September 2026 (Q2 FY 2026-27))
Unchanged for the 9th straight quarter: PPF 7.1%, Sukanya Samriddhi 8.2%, SCSS 8.2%, NSC 7.7%, KVP 7.5%. EPF pays 8.25% for FY 2025-26 (being credited by mid-July 2026).
🧮 GST 2.0 (since 22 Sept 2025)
India moved to two main slabs — 5% and 18% — plus 40% on luxury/sin goods; 3% gold and 0.25% rough diamonds continue. The 12% and 28% slabs are abolished. Our GST calculator uses only the new slabs.
📊 Capital gains (since 23 Jul 2024)
Listed equity & equity funds: STCG 20%, LTCG 12.5% above a ₹1.25 lakh annual exemption; indexation removed for most assets. These rates continue for FY 2026-27.
Frequently asked questions
Are these calculators updated for the latest tax rules?
Yes — the income-tax and salary calculators use the FY 2026-27 slabs (identical to FY 2025-26; Budget 2026 made no slab changes), including the ₹60,000 rebate, marginal relief, surcharge and 4% cess. Scheme calculators use the official July–September 2026 (Q2 FY 2026-27) rates.
Do you store what I type?
No. Every calculation runs entirely in your browser with JavaScript — amounts you enter are never sent to our servers.
How accurate are the results?
Formulas follow the standard conventions used by banks, AMCs and the Income Tax Department (quarterly compounding for FDs, annuity-due for SIPs, slab-wise tax with rebate and marginal relief). Actual outcomes can differ due to rounding, fees, exact day counts and rule changes — treat results as close estimates for planning.
