Seeds Fincap Secures Over ₹100 Crore in Series B Round Led by Michael & Susan Dell Foundation

Gurugram-headquartered non-banking financial company (NBFC) Seeds Fincap has secured more than ₹100 crore ($10.4 million) in a Series B equity funding round led by the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation. The fundraising also saw participation from existing institutional investors Z47 (formerly Matrix Partners India) and Lok Capital, alongside Norinchukin Capital and venture debt firm Alteria Capital. Unitus Capital acted as the exclusive financial adviser for the transaction.

The fresh injection of growth capital comes as the lender charts out an ambitious expansion roadmap to achieve ₹1,000 crore in assets under management (AUM) by March 2027, backed by deeper penetration into underserved semi-urban and rural markets.

Expansion and Technology Roadmap

Seeds Fincap plans to deploy the capital to widen its physical branch network, augment its field personnel, and upgrade its core digital infrastructure and credit risk assessment models.

Key areas targeted for capital deployment include:

  • Expansion of physical branches across underpenetrated rural and semi-urban trade clusters.
  • Investments in proprietary underwriting technology and real-time risk surveillance mechanisms.
  • Recruitment of grassroots collections and onboarding teams to scale customer acquisition.

Underwriting the Unbanked MSME Segment

Founded in 2021 by Subhash Chandra Acharya, Avishek Sarkar, and Sumeet Dhall, Seeds Fincap provides customized credit solutions to nano enterprises and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). These micro-businesses typically face barriers in accessing credit from mainstream commercial banks due to a lack of formal collateral or conventional credit documentation.

To bridge this credit assessment bottleneck, Seeds Fincap employs a cash-flow-based underwriting mechanism. The lender offers ticket sizes ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹10 lakh, utilizing localized field monitoring coupled with digital onboarding workflows to capture operational cash flows accurately.

Commenting on the fundraise, Subhash Chandra Acharya, Managing Director and CEO of Seeds Fincap, noted that the participation of the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation serves as a strong validation of the firm's grassroots impact and underwriting discipline. He added that continued support from early-stage institutional backers reinforces confidence in the NBFC's asset quality and profitable growth trajectory.

Financial Performance and Operational Metrics

Unlike several early-stage digital lenders that prioritize top-line scale over margins, Seeds Fincap reported profitability across both FY25 and FY26.

The company's recent operational highlights include:

  • Assets under management standing at ₹722 crore as of August 2026.
  • Total annual disbursements reaching approximately ₹620 crore during FY26.
  • An operational footprint encompassing 164 branches across India.
  • An active client base exceeding 70,000 micro-borrowers and entrepreneurs.

The Series B fundraise represents the company's third institutional round in roughly two years. In 2025, Seeds Fincap raised ₹50 crore in a pre-Series B round led by Z47 and Lok Capital, which followed an $8.5 million Series A round concluded in July 2024.

Market Implications for India's NBFC Sector

The capital raise underscores a broader structural shift within India's financial sector. While retail unsecured personal loans have seen tighter scrutiny and risk-weight adjustments from the Reserve Bank of India, productive business credit directed at the informal MSME segment continues to draw long-term domestic and global equity capital. By coupling high-touch field verification with automated credit checks, niche NBFCs like Seeds Fincap are establishing resilient, capital-efficient portfolios that can scale sustainably toward institutional benchmarks.
