US-based specialised artificial intelligence cloud provider CoreWeave, Inc. has officially announced its entry into the Indian market through a multi-billion-dollar infrastructure collaboration with AdaniConneX. Under the agreement, CoreWeave will deploy 240 megawatts (MW) of dedicated AI data center capacity across three buildings at AdaniConneX’s Taloja campus in Navi Mumbai, with an option to expand by an additional 240 MW at the site.
AdaniConneX is an equal joint venture between Adani Enterprises and global data center operator EdgeConneX. The long-term deployment positions CoreWeave as the sole tenant across the three 80 MW high-density facilities, marking the New Jersey-based firm's second major expansion in Asia following its recent entry into Indonesia.
State-of-the-Art Architecture and Nvidia Deployment
The Taloja facility is being custom-engineered to handle intense compute tasks, including large-scale generative AI model training, inference, reasoning, and autonomous agent workloads. CoreWeave plans to deploy Nvidia’s next-generation Vera Rubin platform across the campus.
The technical architecture will feature:
- High-density GPU data halls equipped with direct liquid cooling systems.
- A non-evaporative chilled water cooling design engineered for efficiency and water conservation.
- Phased delivery, with the first operational phase scheduled to come online in mid-2028 and additional capacity following in phases.
In addition to infrastructure hosting, CoreWeave confirmed plans to open a physical office in India and hire local engineering and operational teams to support clients across the domestic ecosystem.
"India has the talent, developers, and ambition to become a major center of AI innovation," said Sachin Jain, Chief Operating Officer of CoreWeave. "We are investing in the infrastructure, technology, and local presence needed to support that growth, bringing 240 megawatts of capacity, Nvidia Vera Rubin, and CoreWeave's expertise to customers building and scaling AI in India."
Significance for Adani Group and Indian Markets
For Indian markets, the deal represents a substantial validation of the Adani Group's aggressive pivot into digital infrastructure and power-to-compute integration. AdaniConneX, which is already executing hyperscale projects for global tech giants including Alphabet's Google, benefits from long-term, contracted hyperscale tenancy that underpins its target of building a 1 GW platform.
The project aligns with the Indian government's IndiaAI Mission and comes at a time when power availability has emerged as the critical bottleneck for AI globally. CoreWeave, which completed its Nasdaq listing in March 2025 and held roughly 4.2 gigawatts of contracted power globally as of August 2026, noted that available capacity has been largely sold out due to unrelenting enterprise demand.
India's operational data center capacity, built up to approximately 2.2 gigawatts over the past three decades, is projected to surge toward 12 gigawatts by 2030. By pairing Adani's domestic power and land infrastructure with global cloud operators, domestic energy and engineering supply chains stand to benefit from sustained multi-billion-dollar capital expenditure over the project's lifetime.
