TVS Motor Unveils Liquid-Cooled RTR 125 LC at EICMA 2026 to Accelerate European Expansion
TVS Motor Company has made a bold statement at the EICMA 2026 motor show in Milan, Italy, by breaking cover on its all-new production-ready motorcycle, the TVS RTR 125 LC. Positioned as the smallest-displacement offering in the company’s performance-oriented RTR lineup, the motorcycle features TVS’s newly engineered liquid-cooled 125cc powerplant, developed primarily to cater to beginner riders and A1 licence holders across Europe.
Alongside the streetfighter, the Indian two-wheeler major also displayed its expanding electric mobility footprint by presenting three electric scooters for overseas markets: the TVS X, TVS Orbiter, and the new TVS M1-S.
High-Spec Hardware for European Regulation
Unlike commuter-centric 125cc two-wheelers, the RTR 125 LC is built to compete in Europe's high-end entry-level segment against established global rivals such as the KTM 125 Duke and Yamaha MT-125.
The motorcycle features a comprehensive mechanical package:
- Engine: 125cc, single-cylinder, four-valve, liquid-cooled DOHC unit.
- Power & Torque: Generates 14.7 bhp (14.9 PS / 11 kW) at 9,000 rpm and peak torque of 12 Nm at 7,000 rpm.
- Transmission: 6-speed manual gearbox paired with a multiplate assist-and-slipper clutch.
- Chassis & Suspension: Synchro Stiff tubular trellis frame and cast swingarm, suspended on 41mm KYB upside-down (USD) front forks and an adjustable rear monoshock.
- Braking & Tyres: ByBre braking hardware comprising a 300mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc, regulated by standard dual-channel ABS, riding on 17-inch alloy wheels (100/80 front, 140/70 rear).
- Electronics: A 5-inch (13 cm) colour TFT instrument console offering Bluetooth connectivity, full-screen map mirroring, turn-by-turn navigation, hazard lamps, and selectable ride modes.
Indian Market Context and Feasibility
For Indian consumers and market watchers, the RTR 125 LC represents a notable shift in engineering capability, but its domestic launch remains unconfirmed.
TVS already commands substantial market share in India’s entry-level sporty commuter space with the air-cooled TVS Raider 125. Equipping a 125cc motorcycle with liquid cooling, DOHC architecture, a trellis frame, ByBre radial calipers, and KYB USD forks significantly elevates manufacturing costs. If priced for India, such a model would likely encroach upon the ex-showroom territory of domestic 160cc to 200cc motorcycles, a pricing hurdle that previously challenged competitors attempting to sell premium 125cc machines domestically.
However, industry analysts note that the development of this liquid-cooled platform could pave the way for shared modular architectures across future domestic TVS performance bikes.
Expanding Global Footprint and Electric Push
The Milan unveiling underscores TVS Motor Company’s aggressive strategy to bolster export margins by scaling premium offerings in developed markets.
In addition to the RTR 125 LC, TVS showcased its European electric vehicle (EV) lineup:
- TVS X: Modified for European roads with larger 14-inch wheels compared to the 12-inch wheels seen on the Indian model.
- TVS M1-S: A new electric scooter equipped with a 4.2 kWh battery pack and an electric motor outputting 12.5 kW of peak power, delivering a WMTC-certified range of 120 km.
- TVS Orbiter: Displayed to round out the company's multi-tier urban EV strategy for global distributors.
While pricing and distribution timelines across European dealerships are yet to be announced, the showcase demonstrates TVS’s dual-track growth engine: leveraging advanced internal-combustion platforms to capture entry-level European motorcycle buyers while exporting cutting-edge electric mobility solutions from its Indian manufacturing base.
