How it's calculated

Expenses at retirement = today's expenses × (1 + inflation)^years-to-retire. Corpus = present value (at the post-retirement return) of those growing withdrawals over retirement years. Required SIP = corpus solved through the SIP formula.

Frequently asked questions

What inflation should I assume?

India's long-run CPI averages ~5-6%; medical and lifestyle inflation run higher. 6% is a sensible planning default — stress-test at 7%.

Is the 4% rule valid in India?

The US 4% withdrawal rule roughly maps to a corpus of 25× annual expenses. With higher Indian inflation, planners often suggest 30×+ or the explicit modelling this calculator does.
