JioBlackRock Mutual Fund Files Draft Papers with SEBI for Life Cycle Fund 2056 and Ultra Short Term Fund
JioBlackRock Mutual Fund, the joint venture between Jio Financial Services and global asset management powerhouse BlackRock, has filed draft Scheme Information Documents (SIDs) with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for two new schemes: the JioBlackRock Life Cycle Fund 2056 and the JioBlackRock Ultra Short Term Fund.
The regulatory filings mark a strategic broadening of the fund house's product pipeline into automated life-cycle investing and short-term cash management. Both schemes feature an entry threshold designed for broad retail participation, establishing a minimum application amount of ₹500 for both lump-sum investments and Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs).
JioBlackRock Life Cycle Fund 2056: Long-Term Glide Path Strategy
The JioBlackRock Life Cycle Fund 2056 is designed as an open-ended mutual fund scheme structured around a pre-defined 30-year target maturity horizon. Aimed at long-term capital appreciation, the scheme automatically rebalances its portfolio allocation as it approaches its terminal year of 2056.
The scheme employs a dynamic glide-path framework across equity, fixed income, and commodities:
- Long-Term Phase (15 to 30 years to maturity): Equity exposure is prioritized to maximize capital compounding, with allocations set between 65% and 95%, while debt exposure is maintained between 5% and 25%.
- Maturing Phase (less than one year to maturity): Risk is systematically pared back, reducing equity allocation to a conservative band of 5% to 20% while increasing debt and money market holdings to between 25% and 65% to safeguard accumulated wealth.
- Commodity and Alternative Exposure: The mandate permits supplementary allocations to gold and silver exchange-traded funds (ETFs), commodity derivatives, and infrastructure investment trusts (InvITs).
The Life Cycle Fund will be benchmarked against a composite index: 70% Nifty 500 Total Return Index (TRI), 25% Nifty Composite Debt Index, 3% domestic gold price, and 2% domestic silver price. Portfolio construction and risk management will integrate BlackRock’s proprietary Aladdin technology platform.
The fund carries a tiered exit load structure: 3% for units redeemed within 12 months, 2% between 12 and 24 months, 1% between 24 and 36 months, and nil thereafter.
JioBlackRock Ultra Short Term Fund: Liquidity and Yield Management
Targeting conservative investors and corporate treasuries looking for parking avenues, the JioBlackRock Ultra Short Term Fund is an open-ended ultra-short duration debt scheme. The scheme focuses primarily on regular income generation alongside liquidity preservation, investing in high-quality debt instruments and money market securities.
Like the Life Cycle Fund, the debt fund will offer both Regular and Direct plans under the Growth option, providing retail participants with an alternative to traditional bank savings and fixed deposits.
Expanding Footprint in the Indian Asset Management Space
The joint venture between Mukesh Ambani-led Jio Financial Services and BlackRock has steadily accelerated its product filings with the market regulator. In recent months, the asset management company has filed draft papers for a diversified suite of products, including broad-market index trackers like the Nifty 50 ETF, commodities funds (Gold and Silver ETFs), target-maturity debt funds, and hybrid vehicles such as the Balanced Advantage Fund and Income Plus Arbitrage Omni Fund of Funds.
The launch dates and formal New Fund Offer (NFO) schedules for both the Life Cycle Fund 2056 and the Ultra Short Term Fund will be announced following regulatory feedback and formal clearances from SEBI.
