How it's calculated

CAGR = (Final ÷ Initial)^(1 ÷ years) − 1. Also shown: absolute return = (Final − Initial) ÷ Initial.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good CAGR?

Context matters: Indian large-cap indices have delivered roughly 11–13% CAGR over long periods, fixed deposits 6–7%. A stock doubling in 5 years is a 14.9% CAGR.

CAGR vs absolute return?

Absolute return ignores time — 100% over 10 years is only 7.2% CAGR. Always compare investments on CAGR (or XIRR for irregular cash flows).
