Highs and lows fall at roughly the same rate, keeping the two boundaries parallel.
Why it forms
Orderly distribution. Rallies are sold at the upper rail and buyers show up at the lower one, both at steadily lower prices.
🎯 Trigger
A close above the upper rail is the first real sign the downtrend is ending. A close below the lower rail is capitulation.
📏 Target
While the channel holds, the opposite rail. On an upside break, project the channel width up from the break.
🛑 Invalidation
A sustained close above the upper rail.

Buying inside a descending channel is buying a downtrend. The lower rail can be traded for a bounce, but the pattern itself is bearish until price closes above the upper rail.
How is a descending channel different from a falling wedge?
The channel's boundaries are parallel, so the decline is steady. The wedge's converge, meaning the decline is slowing. The wedge is a bullish setup; the channel is not.
When does a descending channel end?
Usually with a close above the upper rail, often followed by a retest of that rail from above. That retest holding is the cleaner entry.
