How November went

India's passenger car market registered 3,93,507 vehicles in November 2025. Volumes rose sharply 21.8% against November 2024, and fell steeply 28.5% on October. It was the strongest November in that record.

That is 9 consecutive months of year-on-year growth for the segment. Year to date, 38,97,253 units have been registered across 11 months, +7.9% on the same stretch of 2024 (36,10,402). The segment accounted for 11.4% of every vehicle registered in India that month.

November catches the tail of Diwali deliveries; whether it looks strong or weak depends largely on the festive calendar.

These are privately registered cars and UVs. Vahan books taxis and cabs as a class of their own, another 31,199 in November 2025, and passenger-vehicle figures published elsewhere usually include them. With taxis, the month comes to 4,24,706.

Are these wholesale dispatches or retail sales?
These are retail registrations from the government Vahan portal — a vehicle counts when it is actually registered to a buyer at an RTO. The monthly numbers manufacturers announce in press releases are wholesale dispatches to dealers, which is why the two rarely match. Vahan is the same source FADA and the industry use for retail data.
