How November went

India's passenger vehicle market registered 4,24,706 vehicles in November 2025. Volumes rose sharply 22.1% against November 2024, and fell steeply 28.0% on October. It was the strongest November in that record.

Passenger vehicles (PV, also called 4W) are privately registered cars and UVs plus taxis and cabs, which Vahan books as a class of their own. In November 2025 that was 3,93,507 cars and UVs and 31,199 taxis and cabs; taxis were 7.3% of the total. Against November 2024, cars and UVs were +21.8% and taxis +26.4%.

That is 9 consecutive months of year-on-year growth for the segment. Year to date, 42,29,829 units have been registered across 11 months, +7.9% on the same stretch of 2024 (39,20,261). The segment accounted for 12.3% of every vehicle registered in India that month.

November catches the tail of Diwali deliveries; whether it looks strong or weak depends largely on the festive calendar.

Are these wholesale dispatches or retail sales?
These are retail registrations from the government Vahan portal — a vehicle counts when it is actually registered to a buyer at an RTO. The monthly numbers manufacturers announce in press releases are wholesale dispatches to dealers, which is why the two rarely match. Vahan is the same source FADA and the industry use for retail data.
