How January went
India's CNG and LPG vehicle market registered 1,76,273 vehicles in January 2026. Volumes rose 8.0% against January 2025, and climbed sharply 44.3% on December 2025. It was the strongest January in that record.
That is 13 consecutive months of year-on-year growth for the segment. Year to date, 1,76,273 units have been registered across 1 month, +8.0% on the same stretch of 2025 (1,63,221). The segment accounted for 6.2% of every vehicle registered in India that month.
January carries the new-year registration rush — buyers who took delivery in late December often register in the first week.

Where the demand is
Maharashtra was the largest market in 2026 year to date with 2,12,751 registrations, 17.6% of the segment's national total. Gujarat (1,89,569) and Uttar Pradesh (1,67,306) followed. Karnataka has gained the most ground, adding 0.68pp of the national total.
