Shares of Asset Reconstruction Company (India) Ltd (Arcil) made a flat debut on the domestic stock exchanges on Thursday, September 17, 2026, listing at par with their initial public offering (IPO) issue price of Rs 139 on both the BSE and the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
Following the muted listing, the stock witnessed mild buying interest and climbed 1.87% to hit an intraday high of Rs 141.60 on the BSE, bringing the company's market capitalisation to approximately Rs 4,421.85 crore.
IPO Structure and Investor Response
The Rs 732.97-crore initial public offering of Arcil was open for public subscription between September 9 and September 11, 2026, priced at the upper end of the Rs 132 to Rs 139 per share price band. The offering received robust demand from investors, closing with an overall subscription of 20.10 times.
The issue was structured entirely as an Offer for Sale (OFS) of 5.27 crore equity shares. Because there was no fresh issue component, Arcil received no proceeds from the public issue, with all funds after expenses accruing directly to the selling shareholders.
Key Selling Shareholders:
- Avenue India Resurgence Pte Ltd (backed by New York-based Avenue Capital Group)
- State Bank of India (SBI)
- Lathe Investment Pte Ltd (an affiliate of Singapore's sovereign wealth fund GIC)
- The Federal Bank Ltd
Ahead of the public subscription window, Arcil had garnered Rs 219.89 crore from 21 anchor investors at Rs 139 per share. Anchor participants included prominent global and domestic institutions such as Goldman Sachs, Societe Generale, BofA Securities Europe, Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC, Bandhan Mutual Fund, Tata Mutual Fund, WhiteOak Capital, and Groww Mutual Fund.
IIFL Capital Services, IDBI Capital Markets & Securities, and JM Financial acted as the book-running lead managers for the issue.
Business Profile and Financial Position
Incorporated in 2002 and registered with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in 2003, Arcil holds the distinction of being India's first registered asset reconstruction company. It operates as one of the country's largest private asset reconstruction platforms by assets under management (AUM), acquiring non-performing loans from banks and financial institutions to implement recovery and resolution strategies.
The company's operations span three primary verticals: Corporate Loans, SME and Other Loans, and Retail Loans. For the financial year ended March 31, 2026, Arcil reported a 26.3% rise in total revenue to Rs 753 crore, compared to Rs 596.4 crore in the preceding financial year. Its annual net profit expanded 14.8% year-on-year to Rs 407.8 crore from Rs 355.3 crore.
Market Outlook for Indian Investors
Market analysts note that while grey market premiums had signaled modest listing expectations of around 10%, the flat debut reflects institutional caution regarding the non-cash nature of mark-to-market gains in ARC portfolios and the ageing profile of stressed assets. Nonetheless, market participants point to Arcil's low leverage, robust capitalization headroom, and regulatory tailwinds around bad-loan resolutions as supportive factors for its long-term positioning on Dalal Street.
