India registered 9,582 electric cars in February 2025, +33.1% on February 2024 and −20.0% on January.
Across the 2 completed months of 2025 to February, 21,556 electric cars have been registered, +46.7% on the same months of 2024.
Electric cars were 3.2% of every car registered in February 2025, against 2.2% in February 2024 (+1.0pp).

MG Motor led the month with 3,781 registrations — 39.5% of the electric car market — ahead of Tata Motors (EV) on 3,733 (39.0%), a gap of 48 units. That is a change at the top: Tata Motors (EV) led January.
MG Motor has gained the most share against February 2024, +22.95pp to 39.5%; Tata Motors (EV) has lost the most, −25.75pp to 39.0%.
The top three hold 86.9% of the segment; 18 manufacturers registered at least one electric car.

How electric is each car maker?
Every car maker's February 2025 volume, split into battery-electric and everything else (petrol, diesel, CNG and hybrid). Leave the EVs out and Maruti Suzuki leads the non-electric cars market with 37.7%.
Among the established makers, MG Motor has gone furthest: 72.3% of its cars were electric.

Where they sell
Maharashtra registered the most electric cars in February 2025 — 1,256, 13.1% of the national total. Karnataka (1,041) and Kerala (964) followed.
