Across the 6 completed months of 2026 to June, 1,47,604 electric cars have been registered, +88.9% on the same months of 2025.
Electric cars were 8.4% of every car registered in June 2026, against 5.0% in June 2025 (+3.4pp).

Tata Motors (EV) led the month with 12,436 registrations — 38.4% of the electric car market — ahead of Mahindra Electric Automobile on 7,650 (23.6%), a gap of 4,786 units. Tata Motors (EV) also led May.
Maruti Suzuki has gained the most share against June 2025, +6.18pp to 6.2%; MG Motor has lost the most, −13.01pp to 18.6%.
The top three hold 80.6% of the segment; 24 manufacturers registered at least one electric car.

How electric is each car maker?
Every car maker's June 2026 volume, split into battery-electric and everything else (petrol, diesel, CNG and hybrid). Leave the EVs out and Maruti Suzuki leads the non-electric cars market with 41.0%.
Among the established makers, MG Motor has gone furthest: 83.4% of its cars were electric.

Maharashtra registered the most electric cars in June 2026 — 4,637, 14.3% of the national total. Telangana (3,563) and Tamil Nadu (2,759) followed.
