India registered 14,208 electric cars in April 2025, +79.7% on April 2024 and +4.1% on March.
Across the 4 completed months of 2025 to April, 49,415 electric cars have been registered, +60.5% on the same months of 2024.
Electric cars were 4.1% of every car registered in April 2025, against 2.4% in April 2024 (+1.7pp).

Tata Motors (EV) led the month with 4,976 registrations — 35.0% of the electric car market — ahead of MG Motor on 4,112 (28.9%), a gap of 864 units. Tata Motors (EV) also led March.
Mahindra Electric Automobile has gained the most share against April 2024, +21.01pp to 21.0%; Tata Motors (EV) has lost the most, −31.69pp to 35.0%.
The top three hold 85.0% of the segment; 20 manufacturers registered at least one electric car.

How electric is each car maker?
Every car maker's April 2025 volume, split into battery-electric and everything else (petrol, diesel, CNG and hybrid). Leave the EVs out and Maruti Suzuki leads the non-electric cars market with 38.0%.
Among the established makers, MG Motor has gone furthest: 72.4% of its cars were electric.

Where they sell
Maharashtra registered the most electric cars in April 2025 — 2,070, 14.6% of the national total. Kerala (1,587) and Karnataka (1,464) followed.
