Full Vahan registration report for passenger vehicles (cars, UVs and taxis) in February 2026 — every major manufacturer ranked, with month-on-month and year-on-year change, segment share, fuel mix and the state-wise picture.
How February went
India's passenger vehicle market registered 4,15,392 vehicles in February 2026. Volumes accelerated 29.2% against February 2025, and dropped 23.5% on January. It was the strongest February in that record.
Passenger vehicles (PV, also called 4W) are privately registered cars and UVs plus taxis and cabs, which Vahan books as a class of their own. In February 2026 that was 3,78,210 cars and UVs and 37,182 taxis and cabs; taxis were 9.0% of the total. Against February 2025, cars and UVs were +28.0% and taxis +43.6%.
That is 12 consecutive months of year-on-year growth for the segment. Year to date, 9,58,702 units have been registered across 2 months, +17.3% on the same stretch of 2025 (8,17,656). The segment accounted for 16.4% of every vehicle registered in India that month.
February is the shortest month on the calendar, which flatters its daily run-rate and flatters nothing else.
