Passenger Vehicle (PV) Sales December 2025: Maruti Suzuki Leads, 3,99,488 Units Registered
Full Vahan registration report for passenger vehicles (cars, UVs and taxis) in December 2025 — every major manufacturer ranked, with month-on-month and year-on-year change, segment share, fuel mix and the state-wise picture.
How December went
India's passenger vehicle market registered 3,99,488 vehicles in December 2025. Volumes climbed sharply 29.0% against December 2024, and declined 5.9% on November. It was the strongest December in that record.
Passenger vehicles (PV, also called 4W) are privately registered cars and UVs plus taxis and cabs, which Vahan books as a class of their own. In December 2025 that was 3,72,658 cars and UVs and 26,830 taxis and cabs; taxis were 6.7% of the total. Against December 2024, cars and UVs were +28.5% and taxis +36.5%.
That is 10 consecutive months of year-on-year growth for the segment. Year to date, 46,29,317 units have been registered across 12 months, +9.4% on the same stretch of 2024 (42,29,896). The segment accounted for 18.6% of every vehicle registered in India that month.
December is the year-end discount month, though many buyers hold registration to January to keep a newer model year on the RC.
