Passenger Vehicle (PV) Sales October 2025: Maruti Suzuki Leads, 5,89,739 Units Registered
Full Vahan registration report for passenger vehicles (cars, UVs and taxis) in October 2025 — every major manufacturer ranked, with month-on-month and year-on-year change, segment share, fuel mix and the state-wise picture.
How October went
India's passenger vehicle market registered 5,89,739 vehicles in October 2025. Volumes grew strongly 15.1% against October 2024, and surged 83.5% on September. It was the biggest month in our 5-year Vahan record.
Passenger vehicles (PV, also called 4W) are privately registered cars and UVs plus taxis and cabs, which Vahan books as a class of their own. In October 2025 that was 5,50,165 cars and UVs and 39,574 taxis and cabs; taxis were 6.7% of the total. Against October 2024, cars and UVs were +14.4% and taxis +27.1%.
That is 8 consecutive months of year-on-year growth for the segment. Year to date, 38,05,123 units have been registered across 10 months, +6.5% on the same stretch of 2024 (35,72,511). The segment accounted for 14.1% of every vehicle registered in India that month.
October is the festive peak. Navratri and Diwali make it the single biggest registration month of most years, so year-on-year comparisons swing on where the festivals fall.

Skoda grew fastest among the segment's biggest names at +42.3% year on year (13,375 units); Hyundai had the hardest month of that group, down 3.8% to 69,434.
On share rather than volume — the number that decides who is actually winning — Toyota Kirloskar has added 0.80pp of the segment in 2025, while Hyundai has given up 1.28pp.
